I take jujitsu here and it is awesome! The people here are so kind and generous. I will recommend this to anyone. It has jujitsu and a workout station. So 5 Stars!!!
Personally, I have been to 4 BJJ schools this year due to moving all over the world and this is by far the best school I have been to yet! For starters, it's an extremely clean, high quality facility. The coaching is top notch for what ever your level of interest from sport to self defense to exercise. The two owner Leonardo and Thais are kind, welcoming, and make you feel like you came to the right place. In comparison to other gyms this is one of the best environments I've encountered. The people are friendly and Leonardo's mild tempered but strong leadership creates a peaceful environment to learn and train. The fundamentals class has very little competitive opportunities which allows for newcomers and well versed jiu jitsu practitioners to learn strictly technique and make friendships with their peers. Everyone I've met there has been genuine and helps one another get the technique over time. I would recommend this gym to anyone.
I've been doing Jiu Jitsu here for about a year and it has truly been amazing. World-class professor, friendly environment, and just a fun place to spend a few hours every week! I couldn't recommend AMAA more!
Coach is so awesome with the kids. Everyone is friendly and they treat everyone with respect.
High level Bjj being taught by a high level black belt. Also being here is like being with family everyone cares about everyone.
My son (4 years old) and husband (33) both started in January. I have witnessed so much personal growth in both of them. The kids classes are broken into several age/experience categories to allow for confidence and skill growth. The coaches start with the fundamentals to make sure the kids won’t get hurt as they move up in skill. They are so patient with the kids and help keep the interest and focus dialed in. My son calls it “ninja training” and loves every second of it. The adult classes are progressive and allow for a variety of experienced individuals to be hosted together. The team is like a family and they all want the best for one another. The supportive environment mixed with elite training is one of a kind. My family will be sad the day we have to move because this gym and its community have set the bar extremely high. If you’re contemplating giving BJJ a try, I’d highly recommend you come to a session here and join the family.
Incredible place and programs. My daughter loves her instructors. They are amazing and teach so many things. We recommend it to everyone and you won't be disappointed with going here.
Our son has been taking here since the summer and he absolutely loves it! My husband and I both can’t say enough good things about Coach Leo! You can tell he is called to do this. He is patient, kind, and passionate about this sport! So excited for our son to be apart of such a wonderful place!!
Professor Leo and Thais are so welcoming! The experience for my son and I has been amazing so far. The environment is very welcoming and everyone at the gym is so friendly. Prof Leo and the other instructors take their time to teach you and help you along. When my son or I are struggling or exhausted, they are always there to pep us up and motivate us. The fundamentals class moves along at a steady pace that really allows you to learn. The prices are also very very reasonable. I would highly recommend the academy to anyone!
I am grateful to have both Professor Delgado and his wife Thaís impart to my daughters how they can strive towards becoming their best selves through Jiu Jitsu. They continuously emphasize respect and inspire my girls to fight hard during class by reminding them that their intensity is what helps their classmates become better. Though they will push your children to expand their capabilities, they are VERY patient and encouraging. Though Professor Delgado leads every class (unless competing), he has a team of exceptional coaches that will also be present to ensure children have the attention they will need to stay focused and the feedback they will need to grow. I find it particularly impressive that they limit the number of students that can enroll in younger classes and maintain a 2 to 1 ratio of students to coaches to ensure they can properly guide development. It is clear they prioritize the needs of their students. Though Professor Delgado’s accomplished career in Jiu Jitsu and Thaís’ background in education are enough to encourage anyone to give this academy a shot, the greater potential my girls realized under their guidance is the reason I believe enrolling in Biloxi’s AAMA may be one of the best things you can do for your kids.
I am extremely happy with American Martial Art Academy. My son and I are learning jujitsu together and the family atmosphere here is very inviting. The schedule is perfect because if life gets in the way there are classes you can attend all week. I am very happy we joined. Thank you Professor Leo, Instructor Jim, and the rest of the staff!!
